Terms of Entry & Participation

These Terms of Entry and Participation (“Terms”) are designed to ensure the enjoyment, protection, and safety of all guests at VR1 Game World, including players, spectators, and those accompanying or responsible
for a player. Your compliance with these Terms and all staff instructions is mandatory. Failure to adhere to these Terms may result in the guest/player incurring costs and/or, at VR1’s discretion, the immediate
termination of the entertainment experience without refund.
By checking in at VR1, or by making an online or phone/text booking, all guests are deemed to have read, understood, agreed to, and accepted these Terms, including the following:

  1. General Admission & Booking
Payment: Full payment for the booked activity is required before commencing participation. No refunds will be issued if a session cannot be completed due to health, safety, wellbeing, or other hazards/risks associated with VR/Simulator use (as detailed below), or due to player-caused damage to VR1 equipment/property. Prices are subject to revision. We reserve the right to adjust pricing for any products or services at any time, without providing prior notice.
Operating Hours: VR1 Game World reserves the right to adjust operating hours or close specific attractions for maintenance, safety, or unforeseen circumstances without prior notice.
Right of Refusal: VR1 reserves the right to deny entry or participation to any guest, individual, or accompanying party at its sole discretion.
  2. Age, Health & Safety Restrictions
    Age Requirements:
All players must be 8 years old or older to participate in any stationary sims. Kids under 8 can be accompanied by elders for lap rides.
All players must be 13 years old or older to participate in any Motion sims.
VR1 reserves the right to request proof of age.
Impairment: Individuals who, in VR1’s reasonable opinion, are under the influence of any drug, narcotic, or alcohol will not be permitted entry or participation.
Health & Safety Warnings (Detailed below): Guests acknowledge the inherent risks associated with VR and simulators. Participation is at your own risk.
  3. Rules of Conduct & Equipment Care
Respect & Compliance: All guests (including players, spectators, or accompanying parties) must respect VR1 staff, follow their instructions, show courtesy to other guests, and treat all VR1 equipment with care.
Hygiene: All guests and players must wear clean footwear and maintain a standard of hygiene.
Food & Drink: No food or open drinks are permitted in the VR or Sim Racing areas.
Damage to Equipment: Guests/players will be held fully responsible for any damage caused by them to VR1 equipment, property, or facilities, or for damage/loss to any third-party property for which VR1 is held
responsible. Inappropriate use or failure to comply with staff instructions may lead to charges for incurred damage.
No Cheating/Tampering: Any attempt to tamper with equipment, software, or to cheat will result in immediate termination of your session without refund.
  4. Health & Safety Information
Prior to Participation: Do NOT enter VR1 or participate in any activities if you:
Feel physically ill, excessively tired, stressed, or anxious.
Are under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or narcotics, or are hung-over.
Are susceptible to light-sensitive health conditions.
Are pregnant or have any pre-existing medical conditions (e.g., heart conditions, high blood pressure, back/neck problems, recent surgeries, epilepsy, neurological disorders, eye disorders, photosensitivity,
claustrophobia, or other phobias) that could be aggravated by VR or motion simulation.
Are using medical devices (e.g., cardiac pacemakers) that could be affected by equipment.
Inherent Risks & Hazards: Participation in VR and Simulator experiences involves known and unanticipated risks, including but not limited to:
Eye strain, altered/blurred/double vision, or other visual abnormalities.
Motion sickness, dizziness, nausea, vertigo, disorientation, impaired balance, or impaired hand-eye coordination.
Increased heart rate, body temperature, excessive sweating, or increased salivation.
Light-headedness, discomfort/pain in the head or eyes, drowsiness, decreased ability to multi-task, or fatigue.
Seizures or blackouts (especially from flashing lights/patterns) in individuals with undiagnosed or diagnosed photosensitive conditions.
Physical injury from sudden movements of motion simulators, bumping into walls/objects, tripping, jumping, throwing, or collisions with other players/objects (real or virtual).
Claustrophobia, panic, or other phobias triggered by immersive content.
Negative health effects that may not present immediately but could persist for hours after use, increasing injury risk during normal activities.
    Important Warnings:
Photosensitive Seizures: Certain visual images (light flashes, patterns) in VR may trigger photosensitive epileptic seizures. Symptoms include light-headedness, altered vision, twitching, disorientation,
confusion, or momentary loss of awareness, potentially leading to loss of consciousness or convulsions. Stop immediately, advise VR1 staff, and consult a doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.
Individuals with a history of seizures, loss of awareness, or a family history of seizures/epilepsy should consult a doctor before using VR equipment.
Motion Sickness: Discrepancies between visual and physical motion in VR can cause motion sickness. If you feel dizzy or nauseous, stop using the VR equipment immediately and rest. Do not drive or
engage in demanding activities until you feel better. Sustained visual effects have been noted after prolonged VR use.
Participant Affirmations: By participating, you confirm and acknowledge that:
“You” refers to you, the player, and includes any person for whom you are responsible at VR1.
You have no prior history of epilepsy or neurological disorders that could affect your participation.

You will immediately alert VR1 if you experience any symptoms while at VR1, including involuntary movements, disorientation, eye/muscle twitching, confusion, dizziness, convulsions, or nausea.
You understand that the use of VR1’s equipment entails known and unanticipated risks, including physical or emotional injury, and damage to property or third parties.
You understand that such risks cannot be eliminated without compromising the essential qualities of the entertainment activity.
You must self-monitor your health and pause or stop if you become unwell.
Objects in the real world may not be visible in the virtual world, and objects in the virtual world may not exist in the real world.
  5. Damage to Equipment & Property
Staff Guidance: Our staff are trained to guide guests safely through experiences and provide instructions on proper equipment use.
Equipment Damage: Misuse of VR/Simulator equipment (including but not limited to falling, throwing, hitting walls/objects, or other players) can cause significant damage. Inappropriate use or failure to
comply with staff instructions will result in charges for incurred damage to VR1 equipment or property.
Hygiene Incidents: In the event of an inadvertent bodily function “accident” (e.g., vomit, urination) while in VR, staff must be alerted immediately for discreet instructions. Please do not walk through the venue if
such an incident occurs. Depending on circumstances, the session may end early. A clean-up fee may be applied at VR1’s discretion if sanitization of the affected area is required.
    Personal Belongings & Theft:
VR1 Game World is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings. We strongly advise all guests to secure their valuables and to avoid bringing excessive personal items into the
    arcade.
In the unfortunate event of theft of personal belongings, VR1 Game World will cooperate with law enforcement, but we cannot accept liability for such losses. All incidents should be reported to VR1 staff
    immediately.
  6. Refund Policy
To mitigate losses from no-shows, a payment or deposit is required in advance to secure and confirm all bookings. Our refund policy adheres to the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act.
Cancellations/Changes (24+ Hours Notice): Full refunds will be issued for bookings that are cancelled, rescheduled, or have player numbers reduced more than 24 hours prior to the scheduled booking time.
Notifications are accepted via our online booking system, email, text, or phone.
Cancellations/Changes (Less than 24 Hours Notice): No refunds are provided for cancellations or changes made less than 24 hours before the booking. While we are not obliged to, we understand unforeseen
circumstances arise. Please contact us to discuss the possibility of an account credit or rescheduling your booking, which will be at the Manager’s discretion and subject to availability.
No-Shows: If no one arrives for a booked session and we receive no response after attempting contact, the full payment will be processed, and no refund will be issued.
Incomplete Sessions: We do not typically offer refunds for sessions that cannot be completed due to reasons including (but not limited to):
Health-related issues (e.g., seizure, motion sickness, injury).
Risk of injury to self or others.
    Risk of damage to equipment.
Player non-compliance with rules or instructions.
While non-refundable, in such rare situations and at our discretion, we may offer an account credit, an alternate activity, or compensate with additional time.
Technical Difficulties: In the event of technical difficulties on our part that interrupt a session, we will offer time to compensate for the interruption as and when possible. Refunds are not typically offered for these
instances, but alternative compensation may be provided at our discretion.
Late Arrivals: We will endeavour to accommodate late arrivals by extending your session end time where availability permits. However, no refunds will be provided if your session is shortened due to late arrival.
Reduced Guest Numbers: If you book for a specific number of players but arrive with fewer, you will be charged the original booking price as the VR/Sim rig was reserved for the full booked period. An account
credit may be offered at our discretion.
Private Events & Birthday Parties: Deposits for Private Events and Birthday Parties are non-refundable. An account credit may be offered at our discretion.
  7. Media Release & Surveillance
Studio Surveillance: VR1 Game World premises are under continuous video and audio surveillance for purposes including training, quality control, security, and promotional use. By entering VR1, you consent to
your image and/or audio being recorded and used internally and publicly (e.g., for insurance claims, staff training, or social media posts demonstrating adherence to/deviation from instructions).
Public Filming by Guests: Guests are welcome to take personal photos and videos of their own experience. VR1 does not claim ownership or control over such content and accepts no liability in this regard. We
kindly request that you be considerate of other guests’ privacy when recording and obtain their consent if they are included in your footage.
Grant of Rights: By participating, you grant VR1 the irrevocable right to photograph, video, and/or record you and/or your child/ward, and to use your name, face, likeness, voice, and appearance in connection
with VR1’s training and promotional materials without reservation, limitation, or compensation.
